ESET has recently released its new and improved ESET HOME subscription based product.  Capable of operating on the Windows, macOS, Android and iOS platforms, this security based software will be available in a choice of three customer-centric packages depending upon the needs of the user.  Appropriately named ESET HOME Security Essentials, ESET HOME Security Premium and ESET HOME Security Ultimate, this choice of packages features a range of protection services. For the purpose of this review I have been checking out the protection offered by ESET HOME Security Premium.

While this product is available from a variety of sources in a standard boxed format, I opted for the download route which delivered a user-friendly installation routine that required following on-screen instructions.  Following the entry of the product's license key, providing me with a one-year subscription, I has access to a range of features offering protection from the nefarious action of those intent on causing damage to my computer system.

Present in all three versions of this product is a multilayered real-time protection provided on a 24/7 basis to detect and deflect virus attacks.  To this end scans are available to check the current state  of all attached local disks in order to detect and clean out threats or carry out checks on designated certain areas.  Depending upon the targeted areas, scans can be time consuming but this should not interfere with other activities as the scan procedure with operate in the background.

As well as providing this anti-virus protection, this ESET HOME Security software offers a suitable environment for tasks that include safe on-line banking communication and other types of sensitive browsing activity.  This safe environment comes as part of the ESET software's Browser Privacy and Security feature running across the full platform.  You will also have the ability to clean up evidence of activity that might be available to aid others who attempt to gathered unauthorised access to history logs.

The premium version of this software supports the use of a Password Manager in the mix.  However this feature will require the downloading of an app from the Google, App Store or from the ESET Website.  Fortunately other tools supported by this version do not require any such extra activity by the user.  Built into the software are tools such as ESET Sysinspector which collects information about the system in case problems may occur and a Scheduler to arrange and manage schedule tasks.  Other tools are available to check the security of your network and clean a system plus apply encryption to files that may be at risk due to being stored on a USB or laptop which might go missing.

While the effectiveness of a security system can sometimes be judged by it not advertising its presence as it go about its business.  In this aspect, ESET HOME Security Premium passed the test.  During the period of the review I was unable to detect any slowing down or interference in my normal manner of working from the software as it operated in the background.
