New Smartphones from POCO

I suppose you might state that developers of mobile devices should never take the option to take their foot off the pedal and stand still with regards to adding features offered by their handsets. As a result, despite the restrictive effects brought about by the pandemic and lockdowns, new handset models continue to appear on a regular basis. A recent example of this trend is POCO's launch of two new models to its range of handsets. These smartphones are the POCO F3 and the POCO X3 Pro.
Described by the manufacturer as the Real Beast, the POCO F3 will be available in a choice of Arctic White, Night Black and Deep Ocean Blue. In addition to the various colour schemes, the POCO F3 comes in two storage variants. You can opt for either 6GB RAM + 128GB ROM or 8GB RAM + 256GB ROM.
With dimensions of 163.7 x 76.4 x 7.8 mm (H x W x D) and weighing 196g, the POCO F3 comes with a 6.67 inch E4 AMOLED DotDisplay screen delivering a 120Hz refresh rate. Corning® Gorilla® Glass 5 on both the front and rear of the unit help protects the handset from accidental damage.
The POCO F3 combines dual speakers with Dolby Atmos® sound technology and a triple-microphone setup that has an Audio Zoom feature allowing you to "zoom in" on a particular sound. Compulsive snappers can use the POCO F3 AI triple camera setup on the rear of the unit. Along with the main 48MP camera you get an 8MP ultra wide-angle camera and a 5MP telemacro camera. Selfie fans get a front-mounted 20MP camera with support for Night Mode captures.
Driving the POCO F3 is a Qualcomm® Snapdragon™ 870 5G Mobile Platform. This 7nm process technology makes use of Qualcomm Kyro™ 585 0cta-core CPU rated at 3.2 GHz and a Qualcomm Adreno™ 650 GPU. The POCO F3 has a 4520 mAh battery and comes with a 33W in-box fast charger. Pricing for the POCO F3 will be £329/£349 depending on the variant.
Described as the perfect companion for the budget-conscious gamer, the POCO X3 Pro has the same two storage variants as the POCO F3 and will give purchasers the choice of a Bronze, Blue or Black colour scheme. The smartphone has dimensions of 165.3 x 76.8 x 9.4 mm and weighs 215g, making it slightly larger and heavier than the POCO F3.
To ensure low-latency, important to gamers, the POCO X3 Pro has a 6.67 inch FHD+ DotDisplay with a 120Hz refresh rate and 240Hz touch sampling rate. With Corning Gorilla Glass 6 providing a layer of protection, this handset features LiquidCool Technology 1.0 Plus to ensure the device does not get too hot.
Rather than the triple rear camera arrangement of the POCO F3, the POCO X3 Pro has a rear-mounted quad camera setup. This arrangement combines the 48MP camera with a 8MP ultra-wide camera, 2MP macro camera and a 2MP depth sensor. For Selfie captures you get a front-mounted 20MP in-display camera.
Powering this smartphone is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 860 Mobile Platform. This brings together the Qualcomm Kryo 485 octa-core CPU rated at up to 2.96 GHz and the Qualcomm Adreno 640 GPU. Packed into the handset is a larger 5,160 mAh battery which is rated at being capable of lasting for up to two full days depending on use. Pricing has been set for this handset at £229/£249 depending upon variant.
