click image to enlargeThis is a 3D SmartPhone and once setup the globe on the front screen is an eye catcher.
It comes in a large 18x12x4cm hard sided zip up case rather like a suitcase. Inside are a case for the back of the phone, a nice long USB to micro USB for charging, a wrist strap, and the all important tool to open the SIM slot and a small 13x7cm eight side fold out getting started sheet.
The phone is 15.8x7.5x.8cm; the viewable screen is 13.5x7cm which gives the notional diagonal imperial measurement of 6inches. It weighs 171grams. The display is 2160x1080.
The right side has the volume rocker with the on/off button below this, 13 seconds Bootup and 3 second shutdown. The base has twin speakers with the micro USB connection for charging and OTG devices between them. The left side has the SIM’s entry point. The top has 3.5mm socket for headphones or earbuds. The back has twin cameras and LED flash in a vertical line .5cm down and .5cm in from the left, 3cm down from the top in the centre is the finger print reader.
The unit comes with a 3850mAh battery which should last a day providing you do not spend it all watching 3D videos. It has an Octa Core processor and Android 9. There is 4GB of RAM and 64GB of memory. It also supports micro SD up to 256GB.
The front screen has all the normal things on the small top line with phone, messages, calendar, chrome and camera on the bottom line. Flip up and you get twenty Apps to the page.
The controls are the normal back, home and show all open.
The rear cameras are 13MP and 2MP while the front camera is 8MP.
Among the extra available are Breakdown Cover and Personal Injury both for three months without a credit card required. Three months of Wi-Fi phone calls with no charges. One month of 3D movies free of charge. Finally at the time of writing the ROK radio App.
It’s a reasonable phone which seems quite rapid in operation, it takes reasonable photos and videos and with both OTG and micro SD card support you should be able to download a lot of 3D videos.
No special glasses are required to see 3D which is great especially if you normally wear glasses.
If you want 3D then this SmartPhone certainly has it, the videos on the one month offer are interesting and the Wi-Fi phone calls may be useful for those who normally have a limit on phone calls.
The box and indeed the Android link say its Android 8.1 but it is Android 9.
At the time of publication the ROKiT IO Pro 3D mobile phone is priced on Amazon at £179.99.
