s-Jays earphones featuring SIREN technology £45.24 at Amazon
I have odd ears. I don’t know if it’s because I am a girl but earphones are not made for me. Either they are too big, they slip out or they just make my ears hurt. Some are good for dance music but are hopeless on speech tracks such as my audio yoga. Too many to mention just DON’T DO Classical or movies particularly well. Call me picky but I am not really into big headphones either. I just want a little, discreet bud that gives me fantastic performance and shuts out the noise of the world around me - not much to ask really.
I was recently sent a set of s-Jays earphones to try. The sleek black matt box was packed with goodies all beautifully designed. This product is a great demonstration of designers listening to what we, the public want. I’ll come to the earphones in a bit but I was impressed by item 5 on the list of accessories – the 90cm extension cord – perfect if you want to listen to something on your computer but don’t want to take up residence next to the USB ports. Number 11, the earphone bag was also a revelation. When earphone manufacturers put a ‘container’ in with their product it is usually naff, hard to open and the earphones don’t fit in very well. This little case is the perfect size with a net pocket to hold the wires so when you unzip it they don’t spill out all over the place.
Now to the earphones. When you first put them in you might think the sound is really tinny, but when you start to rotate them, gently, as if you were screwing them into your lugs, suddenly the base appears thanks to Siren technology a tubeless, round balanced armature that gives you a heavy deep bass impact. At the same time the isolating sound system effectively cuts out all ambient noise so you can concentrate on your tunes
This is a high end audio product with exceptional design yet considering the quality comes in at a good price - everything about it is well thought out.
