A set of not that heavy on ear headphones. A novel touch that you notice immediately is the slim red and blue rings that sit in the centre of each earpiece to help you decide which way the earpieces fit without looking for the little L.

They are 18cm from base of earpieces to the top of the headband. There is 2.5cm of expansion on each side of the band so these should suit all but the largest of heads.
The total weight is just 200grams.
The lead is hardwired into the base of the left earpiece. 15cm down the 1.4metre length is the phone answer silvered toggle. The lead is round and rubber, the 3.5mm plug is of course gold plated.
The earpieces rotate forward by 90degrees and back by a few degrees, the earpieces also move inwards from the top by around 20degrees. While it did not cause a problem during the test period there was a small thin wire from the top of the earpiece to the headband and this looked fragile.
In the box you get a fabric carry bag and an adapter to convert the 3.5mm plug to ¼ inch.
While I can by no means be called a ‘fitness freak’ having these on while taking exercise gives you the feeling of stability. Of course earbuds buried in the ear and with the lead wound round the ear will be nearly 100% secure I was able to move around and gyrate my head to a far more excessive rate than I would call normal without the earphones showing any sign of movement.
The padding on the inside of the headband is not huge but enough to give protection which is especially important to those like me who are bald.
Not only did I use these when out and about and collected to a Smartphone. I also dug out an MP3 player and used that both inside and out.
When indoors and in my lounge I used the headphone socket and got high quality sounds from my CD player.
While it has reasonable bass levels those who expect their fillings to rattle from excessive bass will not be satisfied.
Often I have space to give very little detail about sound quality. Here I have more space so the mid range was excellent whatever the source. The high end was fine and bass for me was also perfect and not excessive.
One use for headphones was to get stereo from even a small DAB radio that comes with only a single speaker getting the most out of the low level signal they come with.
What DAB does you is clarity which even the best FM signal cannot so another use for a decent set of headphones.
While I am not a fan of singing I prefer an instrument, however one of my tests I always use is voice and I have a set of files that give a good range. Poor quality earbuds or headphones are often caught out by voice especially the male voice. Here the whole range from Bass Baritone to tight pants were all delivered correctly.
As regular readers know I am a jazz fan and while I can listen to larger groups – orchestras – my favourite music is a trio or quartet. The whole range of sounds bass, keyboard, drums and other instrument are clearly defined.
