Fans of the Pop Art series of titles will no doubt be pleased to hear that T1 Games has released the next title in the series with its Pop Art 5 title. As with the earlier offerings in this series, this latest version follows a similar pattern with its Paint by Number product, Pop Art 5 is built around a number of outline sketches that can be coloured in using a numbered colour palette. Appropriate tools come supplied with the product to produce the finished images.
Providing you with 64 outline base sketches, these templates are arranged in a photo book style with eight outlines supplied a page at a time. You can then make a selection from the available choices allowing you to make your choice of base image to start your creative process. However, the program does require you to complete the first eight sketches before you are granted access to the subsequent pages of eight examples of content.
Once an image is selected for working on, your choice will be transferred to a work area. As befits such a location, this work area will contain the outline image and a panel featuring the tools that are at your disposal. These tools will consist of two colour palettes and the ways and means to apply the colours and make adjustments when necessary.
While one of the palettes will feature all available colours for the sketch, these colours will be numbered so that you need to use them to fill in the appropriate areas of the outline. The second palette’s purpose is to provide the choice of colours to be used as a backdrop for the outline and to highlight which is the current number you are attempting to colour. The panel will provide a Hint feature to help identify the areas belonging to the current number.
The outline sketch will have been divided into numerous areas of varying sizes. Each of these areas will be appropriately numbered to indicate the colour which should be applied to that particular area. When filling these individual areas you have a choice of which sequence to proceed. You can either permit the software to take the lead and work through the numbers in sequence or you can randomly select a number to help fill in a particular area of the outline sketch.
Whichever method you opt for, you will quickly discover that the program will not allow you to stray too far from the correct approach. You will not be permitted to apply the wrong colour to an area. When one of the numbered areas has been completed you will hear a sound to announce the fact.
In some cases, the areas of the outline sketch are small enough to make identifying them difficult so you can enlarge the sketch using the mouse button and drag the image around the screen area with the right mouse button. A control button the tool panel can be used to return the image to its normal size and position it centrally.
You can download this title from Gamehouse.com where it is priced at $9.99 or Big Fish Games priced at £3.22.. The game requires a 1.0 GHz processor with 512MB of RAM and 110MB of hard disk space running Windows 7 and later.
