Pixel Art 15 is the latest offering to join the Paint by Numbers genre of image colouring titles.  Developed by T1 Games this particular title gets the would-be artist to concentrate on images formed from individual pixels rather than groups of pixels which have been split into sections.  With adjustable volume levels for background music and sound effects to emit indications when certain actions have been completed, this title provides 80 images that are presented in the form of grids that come with tools to apply the necessary colours to individual pixels and create an image.

Using a standard photo album format when displaying its range of image templates, the supplied images are spread over ten pages that each contain eight possible choices.  Initially you will be restricted to selecting an image from the first page but, once this selection has been put to some use, you will then be granted access to all the full range of the other possible choices for your designated template.

Rather than an outline image divided into section, as offered by other titles in the Paint by Number genre, the images in this product will be divided into column and rows that you might expect to find in a grid structure.  This arrangement will create an outline image that is consisting of cells that each represent a single pixel.  The cell, and thus the pixel, will feature a number to indicate which colour was to be used to be applied to the cell.

Alongside the image being coloured will be a panel featuring tools to adjust the background colour, restore the image to its standard size should the need having arise to expand or centre the image's position on the screen.  There will also be a numbered coloured palette.  You can either work through the colours in numeric sequence or randomly selecting an appropriate number to work with when applying shades in the cells in the image.

The actual layout of the numbered cells makes it far easier to pick out a particular targeted cells which can then be coloured individually or over areas that might consist of cells with the same number.  Unlike other Paint by Number titles I have checked out, this Pixel Art offering does allow you to apply the wrong, or other colour that was originally intended, whether this is carried out accidentally or deliberately.  You can undo this mistake by simply applying the correct colour on the designated cells.

I found it was easier to colour in the outline image using the pixel method than that used with the more standard Paint by Number process.  However the results achieved were more visually acceptable when using the Paint by Number method.  The pixel results tended to have a more chunky appearance.  This title can be downloaded from Gamehouse.com where it is priced at $9.99.  It is also available from Big Fish Games priced at £3.22.  The game requires a 1.0 GHz processor with 512MB of RAM and 36.1MB of hard disk space running Windows 7 and later.
