When removing from the box I liked what I saw just two main items the cleaner itself and the handle (wand) that just clips onto it, no tools are required to assemble. My next joy was the mains lead its long at 10 metres so even if sockets are a distance apart no extension lead should be required.
It is 114cm tall, 30cm wide at the foot and 25cm deep also at the foot. In this format it is a conventional powerful upright vacuum cleaner.
There is a simple way to select either small pile or fat pile carpets with a slider on the front of the foot. Talking of foot if you place a foot on the front of the unit you can lower the handle to a working position, so many units require a complex set of movements to lower to a working position.
You can use it with or without the brush bar being activated as the unit has no less than three buttons at the base of the handle.
There is some movement from side to side ‘steerable technology’ of the foot that makes moving round corners easier.
My unit was grey with sky blue highlights and the latter includes all the various buttons that control the unit and also the button that allows you to empty the dirt and dust container.
This is a bagless powerful cleaner especially useful for those who have pets as it has the required HEPA filter to help remove pet hairs from carpets.
When used for floors it is powerful and steerable but these two tasks make it quite heavy and unless you go regularly to the gym it is not something ideal for stairs but VAX have an answer to this by allowing the foot and frame to be removed leaving just the dust storage container and hose so then attach a provided head and you have a lightweight unit ideal for cleaning stairs and with the 10metre flex no problem about getting all the way up or down. In fact any task not at floor level is ideal for this break out piece of kit.
So out of the box plug in the wand and the lead and you are ready to clean your carpets and even deep pile rugs. Remove the superstructure and you can easily carry it in one hand leaving the other hand free and you can not only do stairs and other tight places but also walls skirting boards and even reach up to picture frames.
I found that working up to four stars ahead with the wand avoided stooping down which with non-upright cleaners is the way to a bad back.
