Emporia ME6

This is the latest offering from Emporia, this company are best known for Smart Phones suitable for older people as they do not assume you know how to use it and as an added bonus they have an emergency button on the back that circles though up to five friends/neighbours and relatives until an answer is received.

The Emporia ME6 measures 16-5x7.5x1cm and weighs 210 grams. The corner to corner measurement is 6.58inches. It has a 2.3GHz Octa-Core processor and has 128GB of memory and 6GB RAM.

It runs Android 13 and has a 4,900mAh battery.

The front facing selfie camera is 8MP while the three vertical in line cameras on the rear boasts a 50MP main camera. The power button is also a fingerprint reader for ease of access.

While it still supports Emporia's easy mode this needs to be manually turned on once setup, the only thing that can tell it from a standard Smart Phone is the rear facing emergency button which to anyone else looks like part of the camera array.

The right side has the on/off button, the base has USB 'C', microphone and speaker. The left side has volume up/down rocker and SIM entry point. The top is clear. The back has a 4x3.5cm slightly raised area near the top that has the three vertical in line cameras with 5G logo and Emergency button beside them.

As with all recent cameras its about photos and videos and both were excellent. I was especially happy with videos taken inside in less than perfect lighting daylight conditions.

While Emporia until now have been an ideal first Smart Phone for older people as it supports Easy Mode and has an Emergency button it now goes further with 'last known position', support for hearing aids and even support for glucose monitors for those with Diabetes.

This is a Smart Phone in all modes with the added support for those who have not used one for years.

Emporia have linked with Fonehouse to offer 150GB of monthly data from Vodafone for £19 a month with no upfront cost, you also get unlimited calls and texts on a 24 month contract. Or should you wish you can buy it SIM free for £299. Either deal includes accessory bundle of carry case and screen protector worth £45.
