Let me introduce you to MyPal. This handy device is a PocketPC from Asus.
An All-In-One has the big advantage of having a printer, scanner and copy machine taking up little more space than a printer alone.
It is 44x34x18cm, the last measurement the height is increased by another 13cm when there is paper in the vertical input tray at the rear of the unit. The scanner opens landscape so any object can be slid in easily without opening the lid to 90 degrees. The weight of the unit is 4.8kilos. Paper is placed face up in the tray and delivered face up from the front base of the unit. In printing this is a four and a six ink offering.
The aim in any auction is to secure the item for the lowest price, with online auctions you have a distinct disadvantage you never know who is bidding against you.
In Europe we have a number of these, in the UK I know of Lidl and Aldi. Are you aware of what they offer.
I was born in Europe and my job has had me living in various countries. For the past few years I have been based in UK. I already knew of Lidl and Aldi who have lots of stores in Germany and other nearby countries as well as a number of other chains that do not seem to be around UK. In UK big chains such as Asda, Tesco and Sainsburys seem to dominate.
Connecting and disconnecting cables is not my idea of fun. Perhaps you agree and would like to hear of a possible solution. If so then read on.
Its a printer, a scanner and a copier, more commonly called an All In One or a Multi Function unit. This is an inkjet offering that performs all the tasks above and best of all takes up little space.
This is not by any means new, in fact I first played it as a child and I dont think it was that new then. It first came out on a PC some years ago, this version was recently released by Focus in their £9.99 range.
The world of broadcasting is embracing digital technology. DAB radio is a prime example of this make-over.
The world of DAB (Digital Audio Broadcasting) is certainly growing. Whether it involves television, with Sky and Freeview leading the way, or DAB radio, we are seeing more channels becoming available. Users are migrating, perhaps not in droves but in a steady flow, from analogue to digital devices. DAB radio is of particular interest.
It makes sense to have a range of Security products for the PC from one company. Perhaps even better to have them in a single integrated package.
Some say McAfee, others prefer M cafee. But whichever way you pronounce the name, it stands for protection.
Targus are a company more famous for there bags for notebooks but they also do some other items among these are rodents, here I am looking at two small offerings.
Need a closer look at images? Then a Microsoft piece of kit could provide the answer.
What is £69.95 + £69.95 the answer in this case is £99.95, not bad maths but the price for the two products purchased separately against being acquired in the same box.
The two products are Adobe Photoshop Elements v3 and Adobe Premiere Elements. Adobe are one of the few companies that still manage to maintain a reasonable price for there software with the likely street price for a full copy of either being around £500. Of course the 'Essential' units do only a proportion of what can be achieved with the full product.
PDA games are big business and I see that Landware also have offerings for Smartphones. Here I am putting two games for Palm systems through their paces.
Naim are a name best known for high quality audio equipment. They do however also have a CD label and a unique way of producing called True Stereo.
There are many dedicated in car navigation systems. Now there are solutions for Pocket PC and Palm. Here is one involving three companies in a single box and a further one that has exclusive rights to sell it.
With a vault in your pocket, your personal data can make the trip with you. Just ask Sony.
Not that long ago a DAB radio was a luxury, and probably also on a PCI card. Pure Digital are probably the biggest name in DAB today and they have a range that includes the Elan.
It is small, multi-functional and ready to store n go. For more details read on:-
This 21.3inch panel can be used either portrait or landscape and is easily big enough to display two pages of a Word document side by side. That however is only a small part of its abilities.
Surprisingly it fits in the same space taken by my 17inch monitor in fact I have an area about 18x40cm free in front of the panel that was just not available with my monitor in place. Whereas I used my monitor at 1024x768 the panel has just the same readability at 1280x1024 and the amount of extras I can fit open on the Desktop is incredible.
Memories fade as do photographs if you dont look after them. But how?
Having recently looked at a dedicated Photo Printer (Epson Picture Mate 4/11/04) here I give a good workout to another the HP Photosmart 375, this even has the ability to view images prior to printing.
It started life as Shareware, became a popular commercial product and now has a new owner meet Paint Shop Pro.
http://www.corel.com/servlet/Satellite?pagename=Corel2/Products/Home&pid=1047023911984 It is with more than a touch of sadness that I have to report that
this review is based on the last version of Paint Shop Pro to appear
from Jasc. Incidentally I am reliably informed that the company name of
Jasc was formed from the initial letters of the founder's two main
interests - those of Jet planes and Software Company.
MP3 players are now often much more, here I am looking at a small rectangle unit that has a large storage capacity and also the ability to keep your music playing for 18 hours.
If your are fed up with the unpredictable printing speed of an inkjet then a laser is the answer, however should you also need scanning and copying then you need a MFU.
MFU (Multi Function Unit) sometimes called an 'All in One' are more common with inkjet technology but there are units available using a laser and the Samsung SCX-4100 is one such offering. It is a mono laser so all printing and copying can only achieve grey scale, however the scanning unit is colour so you can scan to a file or application on the PC and work with colour images.
Yes this is a mobile phone, but it is also so much more. Digital camera and also able to take video. It can play MP3 and also Java games. However as yet it has stubbornly refused to do the washing up.
It is not amazingly small or light, nor
is it thin in fact by modern standards you may even call it obese. It
is all but 2.5cm thick and 10.5cm tall, the width is close to 5cm. Rotate it in half and the height
becomes 16.5cm. There are 14 keys plus another five and a four position
wheel that controls the near 5x4cm screen that determines everything on
this camera/phone.
A lot of good software is available at bargain prices, here I am looking at four products all available for less than £5 each.
Having recently looked at two cordless rodents here are two further offerings, the first for the notebook user, nice and small. The second for those with style, yes its a
designer mouse this one even has a cord.
A chance to see some of the latest developments in the gadget world, direct from key manufacturers
This years event is very different from last years. Last years show was held in a big hall
at Olympia covering everything from digital cameras to 'personal submarines'. This year was
a more sedate and professional affair, mainly populated with the major manufacturers. Gone
this year are the little and often interesting side-stands from the smaller companies.
Not a cry from a street vendor offering saucy postcards but the ability to print excellent borderless 15x10cm images without any wires apart from a mains lead.
