AOC 27inch U27B3CF

This is both a HDMI and USB 'C' monitor. The colours on screen are amazing as are the brightness and contrast default settings, both of which have much higher settings. Being able to connect a notebook and or mobile phone to this is a big plus but also being able to output from a PC via HDMI means it can do up to three jobs.

This 27inch offering comes with a circular base and while there is a good amount of back and a small forward movement, there is no side to side movement for the screen so you are stuck with 4 to 16cm above your desk. The circular stand is 21cm across with the up-rite support bar being back 17cm from the front.

The screen surround is 61x36x1.5cm, the viewable screen is 59x33.5cm which gives the notional diagonal imperial measurement of 27inches.

Near the right edge of the base of the screen surround are five buttons which can give a huge range of settings dependent on how you are using it, I was a little surprised to see the default setting for brightness and contrast are called 'warm'. Just to the right of the fifth button on the front is a LED, white when on and dull red when power is going to the unit but the screen is not showing anything.

On an inset 4cm up from the base are the cable connections, near the centre is the three pin mains connection with USB 'C' and two HDMI further towards the right side. The unit comes with a HDMI cable a USB 'C' to USB 'C' cable and a mains lead.

There is no web-cam.

As always I tested this with both my videos and photos as well as some professional films both recent and black and white all were excellent. Another setting was for games and while I never last long as my reactions are somewhat slow these days you can see your death coming even in shades of black and grey.

The built in speakers were better than some although not up what you might want for music playback.

It would have been nice to have greater height adjustment but it is easy enough to move the unit sideways by turning on the base should you need want to. The screen can show up to 3840x2160 pixels.

The AOC 27inch U27B3CF is available from the link below for £249.99.
