The buds are around 2x2cm at the front end and up to 2.5cm deep dependant on the size of the silicon bud you fit onto them. The weight of each bud is around 5.5grams.
They are designed to fit into the ear and certainly will not fit in comfort if put into the wrong ear, each bud is marked either ‘L’ or ‘R’. In my case anyway after presenting to the ear around 90 degrees of turn has it seated correctly and even vigorous head movement will not dislodge the bud, however they do not seem to be exerting any pressure.
They are supplied in a solid metallic case 7.5x5.5x2.5cm this has rounded edges and only on close inspection can you ascertain that by pushing the end marked ‘Super x-fi’ does the container open.
The container comes with a 30cm long USB ‘C’ to USB lead to allow charging; however the container also is a charge point without the USB lead being connected as it is also a battery.
There are four LEDs on the end of the container L for left bud, low power, charging and R for right bud, these are in a line above the USB ‘C’ port.
Just like the buds when fitting into your ear they only fit into the container one way. A close look at the bud will see three metallic contacts on the back of the front part of each bud and they fit into the container so that these contact pairs of the contact and this is actually how you charge the buds.
You should get up to 14 hours of playing time from your buds and once placed in the case they are recharged so before you have to look for somewhere to recharge you should get nearly two more complete charges so probably you only need to charge twice a week, even when using all day every day.
They come with Bluetooth 5.
The buds have Graphene Diaphragm to give excellent sound reproduction. You can of course also make and receive phone calls and the buds also support SIRI (Apple) and Google Assistant (Android).
There is a three month free subscription for Super X-Fi which works with files stored on your phone, this App does not support streaming but your buds work for that with your phones own software or other third party offerings.
While my use was for relaxation I am told the Outlier Gold units are sweat proof.
The sound quality was excellent both with and without Super X-Fi software. I am told the buds also support dual call technology.
For those who do not know Bluetooth 5 is stated to be twice the speed of Bluetooth 4.2 and uses less power.
The Outlier Gold buds are available from Amazon for £89.99 or direct from manufacturer for £84.99.
