The screen of the Samsung S24D390HL monitor measures 54x31x2cm with the 25x20cm stand raising it 9cm from your desk.
The viewable screen is 51x29.5cm which gives the notional diagonal imperial measurement of 23.6inches. The default screen display is 1920x1080.
This unit has a lot of back tilt and a small amount forward of vertical. As with all recent panels this has a wide viewing angle and here it is not just from side to side but also above and below, the stated figure is 178degrees.
Magic Upscale is something that improves the viewing quality even when the input level is far less than the 1920x1080 of the panel. Just plug in your notebook and see the sharpness and clarity that this Samsung panel give to your notebooks image.
The rear has connections for HDMI or VGA, the other sockets are for audio input when used with VGA and DC input for power. Unlike some panels where connections are hard to get at because they are hidden under the arm of the panel these are all set higher up the back and easy to get at.
The bottom edge of the panel on the right has the six control buttons for the screen however the ‘Auto’ setting is so good that the only one you are likely to need is the rightmost the on/off.
All the buttons have legends so finding out what they do is easy.
I tested this with a range of inputs from use for gaming, to watching videos, scrolling numerous web pages and more routing tasks like word processing and spreadsheets.
Perhaps a little more forward tilt would have been nice but the amount of back tilt means you can be so far above it as I believe the fashion now in certain offices to stand meaning unless the desk or table is extremely high to begin with would be important.
While initially the screen bezel looks black it is in fact a very dark blue. While few will think this is important the actual edge makes light stand out more.
As anyone who plays modern games will know they have a lot of blacks in them and a look at the second link shows how much different blacks can be on a decent screen and as far as the gamer is concerned you probably live longer. This is achievable with a single button touch.
The HDMI can also be used as an output from most modern electric devices like Blu-Ray players and with decent sound from the built in speakers it would be the ideal solution for a not over large room.
The second link gives more information on the panel.
