Following the introduction of the first lightweight headset in 1962, Plantronics has been involved in the development of communication headset technology and now stands as a market leader in this sector. As part of its ongoing development of this form of communication, Plantronics has come up with a range of new products that are aimed to take headset devices to the next level. These new products are being aimed at those looking to take advantage of both Bluetooth and VoIP advances.
When it comes to Bluetooth-enabled products, Plantronics has four new offerings. Leading the way is the multipoint Voyager 510 Bluetooth headset system. This product has the ability to allow users to seamlessly switch between Bluetooth-enabled devices such as mobile phones, office phones and notebooks. Ergonomically designed to provide maximum comfort, the Voyager 510 weighs 15 grams and offers 6 hours of talk time and 100 hours of stand by time. This headset features a noise cancelling microphone. The Voyager 510 will be available as a standalone unit costing 79 euros or as part of a complete system with docking station for 294 euros.
Lined up as an entry-level model, Plantronics is offering a headset code named Tonga. This headset has a mini joystick control for answering and concluding calls. It will provide 10 hours of talk time and 240 hours of stand by time. The Tonga has been priced at 49 euros.
Next up is the headset that Plantronics has code named Tahiti. With its claim as being the smallest Bluetooth headset on the market, the Tahiti weighs less than 10 grams. It is being aimed at the style conscious user who requires multipoint connectivity for switching between devices. This model offers 25 hours of talk time and includes an incoming vibrate alert. The headset features a cradle for recharging the headset when not in use. No pricing information is currently available for this particular model.
Completing Plantronics new Bluetooth offerings is the companys first Bluetooth personal speakerphone that is currently known by its code name of Myna. This lightweight and ultra portable device will provide 5 hours of talk time and 120 hours of standby time. Suitable for use in locations such as a car, this phone has active noise reducing and adaptive echo cancelling technology. Expect to pay in the region of 130 euros for this model.
Described as the worlds first wireless USB headset system, Plantronics has introduced the CS60-USB unit. With this headset, users will be able to roan up to 100 metres from their PC-based soft phones and still remain within the communication loop. The unit will provide up to 9 hours of talk time. Weighing 28 grams, this unit will be available with a choice of headband, behind-the-head neckband or ear loop design. The PerSonoCall software that is included with the headset will provide answer/end and ring detect capabilities for most major soft phones currently available. The CS60-USB product will be priced at around £235.
Hopefully we will be able to provide more information and a review of these devices when they become available. SO if you need a headset using the latest technology watch this space.
