Rescuing Camelot

Can you put your skills to the test and rescue the land of Camelot from attack by evil forces.

AnaWiki would like to challenge you to compete a Match 3 type adventure.  The action will take place over a route that stretches over 250 Match 3 levels as you make a journey through a land that was famous for its respect for nature and its acceptance of magic.  This is the magical land of Camelot.  However, of late, the land has been affected by the machinations of an evil wizard who was determined to take over control of everything.  In the role of Merlin's apprentice, you have been chosen to come to the aid of the population and restore peace to the land as you complete the game of Avalon Jewels.

With adjustable volume settings for background music and sound effects plus full screen viewing, the game gives you a choice of European languages, including English, Spanish, French and German, for on-screen instructions.  There is also a choice of playing the game in either Relaxed or Puzzle mode with the latter requiring levels to be completed within a set number of moves.

As you travel along the winding path of the journey that you need to follow with stop-off points tackled in sequence, you will be presented with a Match 3 grid challenge presented either in single or multiple group format.  The grid(s) will be sandwiched between the actual challenge on the left and available power-ups on the right.  The challenge will consist of the various elements featured in the grid and what needs to be removed.  The power-ups, unlike those found in other Match 3 title, remain constantly available until they are actually used and are carried forward through levels.

Early encountered grid will be mainly populated by jewelled tiles with some ice blocking tiles.  These can be removed by being included as part of a group formed by swapping two adjacent tiles.  Later other elements will be intruded as you progress along the path.  Some tiles can take on special powers for destruction when used as part of a group.  Elements such as shelves  holding books or cabinets with bottles will make an appearance.  You will need to remove the content before the actual furniture can be tackled and removed.  At varying times you will need to clear gold tiles and, at a later stage, turn all the cells of a grid to green.

Assisting you at different times will be different characters such as Thorne, Durin, Zakai, the Lizard King and Sir Elara who is fierce female warrior.  However not all the characters encountered will be helpful.  Some will need to be defeated in battle as you remove them from the grid by afflicted constant hits from created matches alongside them.

Not all the various elements of a grid can be removed by being included in a created group..  Certain elements require a special action to be implemented before they are removed.  Such elements need to be guided towards the base of the grid.  This action is achieved by creating a pathway beneath the element so that it falls downwards.  However if you take too long in disposing this element, it has the ability to revert back to its original position in the grid.

With 250 levels of Match 3 action, you might require an occasional break.  Such a break is provided with a couple of mini game puzzles earned by making progress.  You can play a dice game or tackle a cut-down version of Monopoly as a means of relaxing.

I downloaded my copy of this title from Gamehouse.com where it is priced at $9.99.  It is also available from Big Fish Games priced at £7.65.  The game requires a 1.0 GHz processor with 2048 of RAM and 235MB of hard disk space running Windows 7 and later.
