Adding to its Halloween Trouble series of titles, Ironcode has released the sixth entry which is entitled Pumpkin Revenge.  Classified as a Match 3 game, which also offers a number of mini game puzzles as an additional incentive, this title involves a battle for supremacy for control of the local forest.

After making adjustments to different volume levels, selecting from a choice of graphics speed, type of challenge and various difficult levels, the game can be played in either English, French or German.  You then become involved in a conflict between a wizard called Shahruk and the witch Ronida as they battle for supremacy of the swamp area that is their home and other residents.

As a result of seeding the swamp with magic mushrooms by Shahruk, the magic creatures of the swamp begin to run amok and cause no end of trouble to the humans living there.  It will be up to you to assist Ronida in putting to rights the problems being afflicted on the nearby town of Jamberton.  Your assistance will be provided by completing 100 levels of Match 3 game play that involves aspects of the Halloween period. 

Mounted against a well-drawn swamp and forest background, the Match 3 game aspect will feature a familiar type grid divided into column and rows.  Housing a variety of content, the Match 3 grid comes with three rechargeable power-ups on its right side.  These power-ups provide Hint, Hammer and Shuffle options.  Positioned on top of the grid is a panel listing the type and number of cells that will need to be cleared in order to complete the grid and its level. 

Cells can be cleared by the standard method of swapping two adjacent tiles to create a group of three or more tiles.  These tiles with then be removed and replayed by others falling downwards.  Mixed in with the variety of more standard tiles will be others  that are classified as Star Essence, Board Lock, Dynamite Lever, Infinite Exploder, Fire Source and Lava that will add some additional features.  There will also be some special tools appearing in the grid that include a Dart Thrower, Column Destroyer, Row Destroyer and a key that can unlock certain areas.

While you are busy working through the Match 3 level, Ronida will be hard at work by looking into issues raised by certain villages.  This will involve Ronida in removing the damage caused by the magic mushrooms.  She will need to find Blacksmith Ralph's tools, calm Farmer John's scared cows, clear the gas smell annoying the Major or sharpening the Woodcutter Olaf's axe among other tasks.  These tasks seem to be carried out in the background and requires no additional effort on your part.

Interspersed between the Match 3 levels are a number of mini game puzzles.  Randomly selected from a pool of game types, you could be asked to complete a Hidden Object scene, play a hand of Solitaire, release a key from a trapped area, play a memory game, put together a jigsaw or set up a channel of pipes before returning to Match 3 action.

This Pumpkin Rampage game offers a variety of challenging game play action.  I downloaded my copy of the title from Gamehouse.com where it is priced at $9.99.  This title is also available from Big Fish Games priced at £7.92. The game requires a 1.6 GHz processor with 2048MB of RAM and 333MB of hard disk space running Windows 7 and later.
