Available in Collector's Edition format, this Hidden Object Adventure game takes place in an environment where magical races exist side-by-side with humans as they go about their normal business activities. Fortunately, so as not to cause too much stress with their human neighbours, those of the magical races tend to hide their special ability and physical appearance within a human looking shell. You will need to take this ability into consideration when dealing with the issues of this game.
Domini Games allows the user its standard offerings of settings when creating your gaming environment as you adjust volume levels and activate special effects. When playing the game you are given a choice of difficulty levels as you select from Casual, Advanced, Hardcore or Custom. These levels give different rates of Hint/Skip recharging plus the use of activate zones to indicate areas worth examining and other types of help.
As the leading detective, with contacts within both types of residents, you are once again called into action to deal with problems that are wide ranging. In this particular case, the Ocean siren, Ribeira Lima, has vanished. While born in the ocean and having a strong bond with the land, Ribeira Lima has a voice that, once heard, is never forgotten. This voice has been described as being the combination of the whispers of waves, the breath of fresh breezes with the chanting of dolphins and the cries of seagulls. If a missing siren was not enough to keep you fully occupied, you also receive a warning regarding a fast approaching tsunami which could destroy everything in its path.
The usual collection of tools to assist your investigation is provided with this Domini Game's title. Arranged across the bottom of the game's various scenes are a Journal, Map and Inventory plus links to a Strategy Guide and Hint feature. From time-to-time, a step-back option to a previous scene will be made available. There are also a pop-out icon on the left side of the screen which reveals details of collectibles in the form of Siren artefacts, posters and make-up brushes found plus a pop-out icon on the right side showing the decisions you made during the game. Further assistance is provided by the mouse cursor which changes shape to indicate when certain actions are possible and an outbreak of sparkles showing a Hidden Object scene.
During game play you will be faced with overlaid screens that often feature various characters delivering their dialogue provided by voice actors. During these sessions you could be asked to make a decision as to which approach to take. Such decisions define the route of the story with three possible endings.
With plenty of morphing objects and collectibles waiting to be discovered, this game also features 24 mini game puzzles and 36 instances of Hidden Object game play. The mini game puzzles cover such topics as portrait on a wall, carnival decorations, sculpture forming, fridge content, corals, holographic map and fighting one of the characters. In each case you will be offered a choice of an Easy or Hard version of the puzzle. The game does not skimp on Hidden Object game play. You could be asked to find items listed as silhouettes, patterns, images, riddles, words in a story, paired items or differences between scenes. You will be given the chance to switch to Match 3 game play if the Hidden Object task does not appeal.
With a story line containing a magical creature, a fixed singing contest, kidnapping, a tsunami and underwater exploration, this game has plenty to keep you busy. I downloaded my copy of the title from Gamehouse.com where it is priced at $19.99. This title is also available from Big Fish Games priced at £15.54. The game requires a 2.0 GHz processor with 1024MB of RAM and 1,02GB of hard disk space running Windows 7 and later.
