If you thought it was safe enough to venture out during the hours of darkness after completing the IKi game of Spooky Dwellers 2 with its offering of Match 3 action, then think again. Obviously IKi Games has other thoughts. The company believes you are ripe to be further tested with regards to dealing with all forms of the skeletons, ghosts, eerie creatures and other mystical beings who inhabit the nether world of gaming playing environments that occur during the Halloween period. This test of your nerves comes in the form of Spooky Dwellers 3 which is currently available as a Collector's Edition offering.
By creating profiles, different people can play this game spread over 90 levels and have their progress recorded after each session. The gaming action can be viewed in full screen mode with a choice of resolution settings. Adjustments can be made to the volume levels for music and sound effects plus you have a choice in the appearance of the mouse cursor. I opted for a Caspar-like ghost figure. The game can be played in a choice of Relaxed, limited Moves or a set Timed consideration to produce various difficulty levels.
Guiding you through the game, or perhaps "leading" would be a more appropriate suggestion, you could be accompanied by Tomassino, the teller of mysterious tales. This animated skeleton will introduce you to a series of Match 3 levels that are mixed in with a selection of mini game puzzles. You will also be given the opportunity to create a playground area to entertain any wandering spirits who happen to be in the vicinity. This area will be paid for with the cash earned in the different aspects of the game.
The game's main action will be concentrated on Match 3 grids. For some reason, possibly because of this structure being an ideal location for numerous pumpkins to grow, the game's Match 3 grids attract Spooky Dwellers to their outside borders. It will be your task to remove these invading attachments by directing a beam of light through a talisman of light feature which acts like a sort of searchlight beam.
Assisting you in the removal of Spooky Dwellers and the abundance of pumpkins are various power-ups. The game supports various power-ups which come in the shape of a skull, dynamite, knife, hammer and rocket ship. By hovering the mouse cursor over a power-up, details will appear as to the procedure it will perform when activated. You can also use the familiar Match 3 action of creating groups of three and more similar tiles by swapping two adjacent tiles.
While working on your main task of ejecting Spooky Dwellers and clearing away pumpkins, you will also need to clear up grassy areas and pathways that feature different coloured layers. Other tasks you could encounter include gathering keys which need to be dropped to the bottom of the grid and the removal of rocks which need to be attack twice before they are cleared away. You will also need to direct the beam issued by the talisman of light towards the necessary direction.
The Collector's Edition of Spooky Dwellers 3 comes with a number of bonus items that become available when sufficient progress is made. Once 30 levels of the Match 3 action have been completed, you will gain access to additional mini game puzzle that have been categorised as Hidden Object scenes, Sequence Finder, Coin Collector and Arkadiusz Boxtrap. Additional Match 3 levels will become available once the initial 90 levels have been completed. You also get gain access to reading stories about various ghostly features including the previously mentioned Tomassino.
This title is available for downloading from Gamehouse.com where it is priced at $19.99. The game is also available from Big Fish Games priced at £15.42. The game requires a 2.0 GHz processor with 3072MB of RAM and 612MB of hard disk space running Windows 7 and later.
