Suricate Software, in conjunction with Lucaciu Studio, has returned to its Daydream Mosaic series with version 5 of this puzzle based environment. For those not particularly familiar with the story of the co-existence of two totally different worlds, some background information might be appropriate.
The two worlds in question are those of Azure and Crimson. While Azure is a frozen world, Crimson is a ball of fire. In order for these two worlds to continue to exist, they need to work together and combine their facilities. Leading this drive by rebuilding long-forgotten ancient sanctuaries are Princess Juliette from Azure and Raven a Crimson warrior.
Since the earlier episodes of this tale of survival, matters have moved on a pace and, at the start of episode 5 which is entitled Crimson Veil, the game's leading characters have discovered a new area that has an apparent lack of population. In their continued search for a solution to bring the two worlds together, Juliette and Raven are joined by Lucas and Maris, a merman Prince. Shortly afterwards Raven goes missing and this latest episode presents you with a new set of problems.
If you are familiar with Suricate Software then you will know that the company likes to pack as much as possible with its various offerings and Daydream Mosaics 5 - Crimson Veil is no exception. At the heart of this title are 120 levels of nanogram game play which you will need to work through as you complete the next stages in the adventures of Juliette and her team of heroes.
Nanogram game play requires you to create mosaics on a grid by following numeric clues as you build up layers of different coloured tiles. Assisting you in this process with be a hammer and bomb tools as appropriate cells are filled in or left blank to create the mosaic. Hidden beneath certain cells will be gems of either a blue or red colour. The collection of these gems play an important part as they are used to purchase additions to the background scenery used within the game.
Mixed in with the nanogram and scene building aspects, Suricate has built into the game the actual story of our band of heroes. At any time you can switch the focus of the game to story mode as you join the team as their adventure continues with the threat of acid rain falling and the appearance of a spectre. Fortunately shelter is provided with the discovery of the Arcade University as you are faced by well-draw backdrops plus full-sized characters who communicate using text speech bubbles. The spectre apart, the other characters tend to be rather static, This part of the game can stretch out over seven chapters which can be replayed at any time and viewed in sequence.
But lets not forget the action of playing with this title. As the story line progresses, and once more nanogram levels have been completed, you are given access to various wallpaper offerings and mini game puzzles. Made up of 27 puzzles, the game features three different types of challenge that are opened to you. There are nine Spot the Difference scenes, nine Jigsaw puzzles and nine Hidden Object scenes where you need to find crystals that have a habit of fading in and out of view.
Daydream Mosaics 5 - Crimson Veil can be played with a choice of difficulty levels. You can opt for Relaxed, Normal, Advanced or Freestyle level. Adjustments can be made to various audio volume levels, with full screen viewing using a special cursor. Players also have a choice of using which of the twelve different tile sets available for the nanogram game play.
I downloaded my copy of this title from Gamehouse.com where it is priced at $9.99. The game requires a 1.2 GHz processor with 1024MB of RAM and 411MB of hard disk space running Windows 7 and later.
